UC CONAHS Joins National Health Workers’ Day 2026 in Baguio City

Faculty members and students from the University of the Cordilleras College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences (UC CONAHS) participated in the National Health Workers’ Day 2026 celebration organized by the Coalition of Health Workers’ Organizations in the Cordillera on May 7, 2026, in Baguio City.

Carrying the theme, “From Crisis to Care: Empowering Health Workers Amid Global Conflict, Oil and Economic Crisis,” the event gathered healthcare professionals, educators, students, and advocates in recognition of the invaluable contributions and continuing challenges faced by health workers.

The celebration featured a solidarity walk and discussions focusing on the conditions of nurses, caregivers, hospital personnel, and healthcare students amid current economic and global concerns affecting the healthcare sector. Participants emphasized the importance of professional solidarity, protection of workers’ rights, and sustained support for frontline healthcare providers.

The activity also highlighted the institutionalization of Health Workers’ Day in Baguio City, which was initially recognized through a city resolution in 2023 and later strengthened through Ordinance No. 26, Series of 2024. The celebration served as a platform to recognize the dedication and sacrifices of healthcare workers while encouraging continued advocacy for improved healthcare systems and working conditions.

Through its participation, UC CONAHS continues to uphold healthcare advocacy, professional solidarity, and the development of socially responsive future healthcare professionals committed to serving communities with compassion, competence, and integrity.
