Faculty members from the University of the Cordilleras College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences participated in the Artificial Intelligence Training in Health Research conducted by the Cordillera Regional Health Research and Development Consortium on May 15, 2026, at the University of the Cordilleras.

The training gathered 70 participants from various member institutions composed of health researchers and healthcare practitioners across the Cordillera Administrative Region. The activity aimed to strengthen the participants’ understanding of artificial intelligence and its growing role in advancing health research and research productivity.

In her welcome message, Dr. Nancy A. Flores emphasized the importance of embracing innovation and emerging technologies to produce more impactful and relevant health research outputs. She highlighted the role of educational institutions and researchers in adapting to the rapidly evolving digital landscape while maintaining ethical and evidence-based practices.

The discussion on AI-powered tools for health research was facilitated by Dr. Thelma D. Palaoag, who introduced participants to various applications that can support literature review, research writing, data organization, and overall research efficiency. The session provided participants with practical insights on how artificial intelligence can complement the research process while improving productivity and organization.
Meanwhile, Dr. Marilou M. Saong emphasized the ethical considerations and limitations associated with the use of artificial intelligence in research. She underscored the importance of maintaining research integrity, critical thinking, accuracy, and responsible utilization of technology in producing credible and ethical scholarly work.
To conclude the activity, Dr. Mark Job Bascos facilitated the workshop discussion and open forum, allowing participants to raise questions and clarify concerns related to AI-generated outputs, ethical standards, and the responsible use of AI tools in health research.
The participation of UC CONAHS faculty members in the training reflects the college’s continuing commitment to research excellence, innovation, and the integration of emerging technologies in nursing and allied health education.
