UC-CONAHS Level III Nursing Students Participate in Blood Letting Activity in Sinto, Bauko

Level III Nursing students from Sections 3T-D and 3K-B of the University of the Cordilleras College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences (UC-CONAHS) demonstrated their commitment to community service and public health by participating in a Blood Letting Activity held on April 17, 2026, in Sinto. Under the supervision of Clinical Instructors Ms. Beth Viduya and Mr. Denrick Garcia, the activity successfully collected a total of 30 blood units, with 9 units generously donated by UC nursing students.

The activity was conducted through the collaborative efforts of the Bauko Local Government Unit, Municipal Health Office of Bauko, Sinto Barangay Local Government Unit, and the Department of Health – Human Resource for Health, alongside UC student nurses, uniformed personnel, and various partner agencies. This collaboration ensured the smooth implementation of the activity and highlighted the importance of coordinated community efforts in sustaining an adequate and safe blood supply for patients in need.

Community members played a vital role in the success of the initiative, stepping forward not only as blood donors but also as volunteers who supported the overall conduct of the activity. Their active participation reflects the enduring Filipino value of bayanihan, showcasing unity, compassion, and a shared sense of responsibility in promoting health and saving lives within the community.

The Blood Letting Activity underscores the significant role of nursing students in community engagement and experiential learning. By participating in initiatives like this, students are able to apply their clinical knowledge and skills in real-world settings while contributing meaningfully to public health efforts. Moreover, it reinforces the importance of blood donation as a simple yet powerful act that can save lives and bring hope to individuals requiring urgent medical care.

Through this initiative, UC-CONAHS continues to uphold its mission of producing competent, compassionate, and community-oriented healthcare professionals, while strengthening partnerships with local government units and health agencies to advance accessible and responsive healthcare services.
