The University of the Cordilleras College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences (UC CONAHS) officially launched the 9th Communidad 2026 on April 27, 2026, through a vibrant Grand Kick Off celebration held at the UC Gymnasium. Anchored on the theme “Advancing Holistic Community Well-being and Sustainability Through Inclusive Development Initiatives and Innovation,” the event gathered students, faculty members, partner communities, and local government representatives in a celebration of culture, collaboration, service, and community engagement.
Hosted by Ms. Deksi D. Lawangen and Mr. Denzel L. Alalag, the program formally opened with the grand entrance of guests and CONAHS faculty members dressed in cultural attire, symbolizing unity, diversity, and appreciation of local heritage. Representatives from partner local government units from La Trinidad, Baguio City, Kapangan, Kibungan, and Bauko also joined the celebration, further strengthening the college’s commitment to community partnerships and collaborative development initiatives.



The opening ceremony featured a doxology rendered by the CONAHS Choir followed by intermission performances from the CONAHS Dance Troupe that showcased student talent and cultural pride. Dean Dr. Judith Odanee G. Magwilang delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of community-centered healthcare education, sustainability, and active student participation in nation-building initiatives.
An inspirational message was also delivered by Dr. Samuel M. Masidong, who was introduced by Program Chair Ms. Judith A. Layao. The address highlighted the importance of inclusive development, innovation, collaboration, and compassionate leadership in advancing community health and well-being.
Among the highlights of the event was the documentary film presentation featuring student-produced video entries from the Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4 MTW and ThFS groups. The activity showcased students’ creativity, community immersion experiences, and advocacy initiatives. Also featured during the program were the photo competition and arc-making exhibit that highlighted the college’s partner communities and promoted appreciation for local culture, collaboration, and community engagement.


The morning session concluded with a Grand March that celebrated unity, cultural identity, and the shared commitment of the UC CONAHS community toward holistic development, sustainability, and service-oriented healthcare education.
