UC College of Nursing Upholds Tradition of Support During PNLE 2024

Fostering Care, Unity, and Encouragement Among UC Nursing Alumni

November 9–10, 2024 – Baguio City. The University of the Cordilleras College of Nursing (UC-CON), led by Dean Dr. Judith Odanee G. Magwilang, continued its long-standing tradition of supporting alumni during the Philippine Nurses Licensure Examination (PNLE). A total of 272 UC-CON alumni took the examination across various testing centers in Baguio City.

This enduring initiative, which began in December 2006, reflects UC-CON’s dedication to the success and well-being of its graduates, combining practical assistance with heartfelt encouragement.

Faculty and Student Volunteers in Action

In a remarkable display of teamwork and compassion, UC-CON faculty and students gathered as early as 3:30 AM at UC Gate 2 on both examination days to prepare and distribute food packs to the examinees.

The delivery teams visited multiple testing centers, including Aguinaldo Elementary School, Baguio Central School, Josefa Cariño Elementary School, Bonifacio Elementary School, Easter School, Doña Aurora Elementary School, Doña Aurora High School, and Baguio City National High School.

Each food pack, containing nutritious snacks and refreshments, was prepared with care to keep the examinees energized and focused throughout the examination.

Sustaining the Spirit of Compassion and Unity

This biannual UC-CON tradition goes beyond physical nourishment—it serves as a gesture of solidarity and encouragement, reminding every UC nurse that they are part of a community that values compassion, excellence, and mutual support.

Through this collective effort, UC-CON continues to nurture not only academic excellence but also the core values of empathy, teamwork, and service, strengthening the bond between the university and its alumni.

The initiative stands as a testament to the college’s enduring mission: to form nurses who embody competence and compassion, guided by the spirit of caring and community.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Alignment

This activity supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:

  • SDG 3.4 – Promote mental health and well-being.
By offering moral and practical support, UC-CON fosters wellness and motivation among examinees during a critical professional milestone.
  • SDG 4.7 – Ensure learners acquire knowledge and values for sustainable development and lifelong learning.
The tradition reinforces UC-CON’s culture of mentorship, lifelong learning, and community support among its nursing students and alumni.
