UC Level 4 Nursing Students Lead Rabies Prevention IEC at Pongayan Elementary School

The University of the Cordilleras – College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences (UC-CONAHS) continues to uphold its commitment to community engagement as Level 4 nursing students from BSN 4F-D conducted an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activity on rabies prevention at Pongayan Elementary School, Brgy. Pongayan, Kapangan, Benguet for Grades 1 to 6 on March 24, 2026. The activity was facilitated under the guidance of their Clinical Instructor, Mr. Ferdinand C. Tercero.

The student nurses utilized creative and interactive teaching strategies, including a skit and a lively music-and-dance presentation, to effectively deliver essential information on rabies prevention. By simplifying key concepts and presenting them in an engaging manner, the pupils were able to better understand the importance of safety, early reporting, and responsible pet care, making the learning experience both enjoyable and impactful.

In addition to health education, the BSN 4F-D students extended their generosity by distributing school supplies and snacks, bringing joy and excitement to the children. This thoughtful gesture highlighted the compassion and dedication of the future nurses, reinforcing the values of service and holistic care promoted by UC-CONAHS.

The school community expressed its heartfelt gratitude for the time, effort, and commitment demonstrated by the student nurses. Their initiative has left a meaningful and lasting impact, emphasizing the role of nurses as educators, advocates, and partners in advancing public health within communities.
