Pongayan, Kapangan, Benguet — February 27, 2026 — BSN 4G-D students from the University of the Cordilleras College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences conducted a 2-hour Choking Awareness and CPR lecture and simulation at Pongayan Elementary School as part of their community immersion activities.
The session focused on equipping elementary learners with essential life-saving knowledge and skills. Through engaging discussions and guided demonstrations, the students introduced basic concepts of emergency response, emphasizing how to recognize signs of choking and respond appropriately. Hands-on simulation activities allowed participants to practice proper techniques in managing choking incidents and performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), reinforcing confidence and readiness in emergency situations.
This initiative aimed to promote early awareness of life-saving interventions, ensuring that even young learners are empowered with the knowledge to respond effectively during emergencies. By fostering practical skills and health education at the community level, the activity contributes to building safer and more prepared communities.
Through this outreach, UC CONAHS continues to strengthen its commitment to community engagement, health promotion, and experiential learning among nursing students, aligning academic training with real-world impact.
